The ARTIS difference - The general mission of ARTIS, recognized by the I.R.S. as a 501 c [3] non-profit organization, is to provide high quality international art and cultural study abroad programs at affordable prices. ARTIS Study Tour programs help artists, students, teachers and the general public to participate in today's rapidly expanding global community. Our approach is both simple and comprehensive. We begin by placing our participants in culturally and artistically charged environments. We then provide the support and flexibility they need in order to travel, study, conduct research, make original art or add international teaching experience to their resumes. While one may find cheaper mass market tours, the ARTIS study tours always deliver "more bang for the buck" than any mass market tour. Just read on to see what we mean.

Many U.S. colleges and universities participate in our study abroad programs and offer college credit for summer study.

Our Study abroad Programs create an environment where like-minded individuals from around the world can meet, network and, more often than not, create life-long friendships. The ARTIS Study Tour Programs appeal to a wide range of people. Our participants have rich backgrounds and lives to share with one another. Generally our tours are filled with adults of all ages; including college students, working artists, historians, professors, retirees and art and cultural lovers in general. Since it is not required to attend the workshops or to even be an artist, a variety of people who come with us just want to learn about other places through the eyes of artists. This tour is for all ages and types of folks who want to have fun, a flexible schedule and time to learn too!

Our extremely affordable programs are located in beautiful art capitals throughout the world. Each program will locate you right where you need to be to gain the most from the tour. Whether it is in the historic center of Florence or the artist village of Ubud, Bali you will find yourself right in the center of everything. Our unique programs are built to stimulate you, surprise you and immerse you in the beauty of each country.

While having the time of your life we also give you the option to explore your own creativity in our M.F.A. led workshops. Studio space is also available to you on some programs.

From the beginning, ARTIS personnel accompany the participants to our "base city," everyone's "home away from home," and then remain with them throughout the program. In most cases, participants will be housed in centrally located furnished apartments with kitchen facilities.

A daily schedule of informative and inspiring Art Historic field trips to "must see" locations is combined with visits to those "hard-to-find-on-your-own" sites. Well worth experiencing, these hidden jewels are just one of the many benefits of touring with your ARTIS instructor / guide.

Typically, afternoons are set aside for free and fee based workshops in artmaking. The participants are welcome to attend these art lessons, or they can choose to explore, do research, or just relax and take in the sites. All ARTIS instructor / guides are artists with an MFA degree and are eager to share "their" country with everyone. They also conduct the free Art Historic lectures, will provide suggestions for places to experience during your free time, and are full of stories about the places you will visit. Just one more unique advantage of our program!
